Heat the oven to 350oF/176oC. Prepare 2 sprayed 8-inch round cake pans.

Add cake mix, butter, grated lemon peel, and the egg to a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer at low speed until crumbly. Then beat the dough at medium speed. Place each half of the dough in each pan and press.

Bake the cookie for 17 - 23 minutes until lightly golden brown on the edges. Let them cool for 10 minutes. Mix all glaze ingredients in another bowl until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over warm shortbread. Let them rest for about 50 minutes to cool completely. Cut the shortbread into 12 wedges and garnish as desired. Serve.
